Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust with expertise in Paediatrics (optional Adult and Paediatric Strabismus). We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team at the Royal Eye Infirmary working together to make a difference to Ophthalmology services within Plymouth and beyond.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and be on the GMC Specialist Register for surgical Ophthalmology or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.

The Ophthalmology unit offers a comprehensive range of routine, urgent and specialist ophthalmic services and the post-holder will be expected to play an active role in the development and provision of the Paediatric sub-specialty services for patients.

Main duties of the job

This post is for a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Paediatrics Ophthalmology. It is a maternity cover post which will continue to support the growth or our department, however, there maybe an option to extend the contract for the right candidate.

The post will be based at the REI in Plymouth providing core clinical activities such as triaging, outpatient clinics, surgical operating as well as ROP screening and treatment.
