We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to Undergraduate Qualifying Radiographers to begin their registered career in Diagnostic Radiography at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).

UHL is one of the largest Hospital Trusts in the country and treats over a million patients a year. It is based on three main hospital sites and employs around 17000 staff.

The Band 5 Radiographer role will encompass cross site working at all 3 main UHL sites with the opportunity to experience working in the Community sites too.

UHL Plain Film Radiographers rotate around all areas and we have an established roster system for nights, weekend and Bank Holiday duties, supporting the delivery of a 24hr service.

Rotation within plain film will include training in Theatre, Paediatrics, Max Fax and Mobile Radiography. There is also the opportunity to work alongside the Cross sectional staff in CT and also observe/train in Forensic CT.

HCPC registration and NHS experience as a student radiographer are essential.

This is primarily a clinical role that will support the progress of a newly registered diagnostic radiographer into a confident, autonomous individual that can develop their knowledge and skills in the Preceptorship period following registration.

The Band 5 Radiographer is expected to adhere to the job description, of which these statements are taken from.

To strive for right first time radiography and to achieve quality assurance in all aspects of the radiology service.

To participate in department shift system and/or out of hours roster.

Perform technical administrative tasks, including accurate patient information, examination details and post processing requirements on the Radiology Information and PACS systems.

To be responsible for the care and comfort of the patient whilst they are in the Radiology Department respecting their privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified radiographer - Degree level or equivalent or awaiting result of Degree
• Health Professions Council registered or awaiting registration

Experience

• A sound clinical knowledge of radiography with the ability to carry out radiographic procedures to a high standard
• Previous experience of working/training in a NHS hospital
• Sound knowledge of ionising radiation legislation
