Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a passion for social work, enabling effective integrated working with colleagues in health, housing, police, and other partners, promoting independence through reablement approaches and safeguarding vulnerable adults in Salford. You will be responsible for carrying out social work duties, requiring the highest levels of skills, knowledge, and professional expertise. You will work as part of a team with both your colleagues and partner organisations.Successful candidates will receive a full induction into the organisation and will be fully supported to settle into the role. Main duties of the job

You will be skilled in undertaking strengths based, outcomes focused social care assessments, person-centred support planning and reviews. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and experience to safeguard vulnerable adults following the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal and developing robust protection plans whilst carrying out section 42 enquiries. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve successful outcomes for Salford residents.

At experienced level, you will need to demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self-determination. You will need to network and liaise with a wide range of professionals and other colleagues, including at more senior levels. You will need to manage a caseload and offer expert opinion inside and outside the organisation. You will be skilled in carrying out mental capacity assessments and holding best interest meetings.

Potential TUPE Transfer

Adult Social Care services in Salford are currently delivered by Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and are expected to transfer to Salford City Council during 2026.

As this role forms part of those services, the successful candidate is likely to transfer to Salford City Council under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (TUPE), subject to the transfer proceeding as planned. Any transfer would be managed through the appropriate formal process, including consultation and support for affected employees.

  • Possession of a recognised Social Work qualification; Degree, CQSW, CSS, Dip SW or equivalent.
  • You must hold a current registration with Social Work England.
  • You must hold a full, current and valid driving licence and have a vehicle with a current valid MOT certificate. You will also need adequate vehicle insurance cover.
  • You must clearly evidence an understanding of the principles and values underlying the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation.
  • You must clearly evidence an understanding of the integration agenda and the promotion of independence (enablement) model of health and social care.
  • You must clearly evidence that you can maintain accurate records and to communicate complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in written form
  • You must clearly evidence that you have a clear understanding of the social work role in a multi disciplinary setting.
  • Experience of working with adults/older people

  • You have additional qualifications; Best Interest Assessors; AMHP; Practice Educator; Post Qualifying
  • You can show knowledge of relevant Welfare Rights Legislation
