Health and Justice Services are looking to recruit a Senior Assistant psychologist to work within the integrated mental healthand well-beingteam at HMPRisleyand HMPThorncross.
We are seeking a full-time Band 5 Assistant psychologist to support the delivery of the psychological provision, utilising a stepped care approach. The post holder will work closely with the current psychological professions staff, which include Practitioner psychologists,PWP staff, CBTand psychological therapists. The post holder will be an integrative part of the wider MDT which includes mental health nurses, psychiatrists and Advanced clinical practitioners.
Working within a prison environment can be a challenging place to work, we are seeking someone with strong clinical and interpersonal skills. The post holder will have a multi-professional support system to ensure they are able tomanage and respond to the dynamic needs of the client group and the environment, to ensure that provision is accessible and appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Thepostholderwill be expected to support the completion ofsemi-structuredpsychological assessments. To work closely with stakeholders and others involved in service user care and management to gain and gather information and collate this in a meaningful way.
To assist in developing formulations, which will be used to drive recommendations and ongoing intervention plans, including individual and group intervention.
To co-facilitate CBT informed individual and group interventions (at Step 2).
To co-facilitate group interventions alongside psychological therapists (at Step 3).
To conduct neurodevelopmental assessments and support the wider neurodevelopmental conditions team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- 2:1 or above psychology degree
- Eligibility for BPS graduate membership (clearly stated on application)
Desirable
- Further training in clinical delivery methods (risk assessment, therapeutic intervention)
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of relevant post degree experience.
- Previous experience in an Assistant Psychology role or similar role
- Evidence of conducting assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention
- Experience of delivering group and/or individual work
- Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience of working with people who have mental health and complex personality difficulties
- Experience of working within a secure setting
Desirable
- Experience of administering and contributing to psychological and neurological assessments for example, WAIS, ABAS.
- Experience of working within a custodial, secure or inpatient environment.
- Experience of working in a trauma-informed environment
- Awareness of the diverse needs of individuals accessing mental health support
