Job summary

In therapy services we recognise the importance of therapy assistants and how important they are to the functioning of the team and to the wellbeing of our patients. As part of our workforce redesign we are recruiting more therapy assistants than ever before. If you are interested in a role supporting patients to achieve what matters to them by working with the therapy team then this role will be of interest to you. The therapy team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietitians in our inpatient teams.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our Inpatient NeurosciencesTeam which has experience of working with people with varied and complex health and rehabilitation needs.

The successful candidate is required to demonstrate the Trust values, and meet the criteria for the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. Experience in healthcare as a healthcare assistant or therapy assistant would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

To assist qualified Therapists in the delivery of the service to the patients within the designated clinical area.

To provide goal directed clinical intervention to patients who have been previously assessed by any of the following: Physiotherapist; Occupational Therapist: Speech and Language Therapist; Podiatrist or Dietician.

To progress treatment without the direct supervision of a therapist but under the direction of the relevant qualified therapists.

To record and report back the treatment provided and the patient's response to treatment in the relevant records in line with national and local standards.

To undertake routine maintenance checks of clinical areas and equipment within designated clinical areas

To carry out administrative and clerical duties for the therapy team.

To participate in weekend duties
