We have an exciting opportunity and looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Physiotherapist inc MSK to work alongside our Paediatric Physiotherapy team

We are a community based service cand this position will cover countywide provision.

The service provides assessment, treatment and advice to children and young adults aged 0-19 with a wide range of needs including MSK presentations. We work in partnership with families, other health professionals and education to maintain a holistic approach to the management of the child.

Services are provided in a range of locations to meet the needs of the child and family. These include clinics, child's home, nurseries, acute hospital ward, mainstream and special schools.

Main duties of the job

The Children's Physiotherapy Team provides Physiotherapy assessment and treatment to Children and Young People from 0-18 years and treats a wide range of conditions such as: orthopaedic, developmental, and neurological. You will be responsible for your own caseload of children in the community settings across the County to assess and deliver Physiotherapy input to Children and Young people and will include assessment and intervention of Musculoskeletal conditions.

Independently assess and treat a range of paediatric conditions including musculoskeletal (MSK) children and young people, some who may have complex presentations.

Assess and treat children and adolescents presenting with a wide range of MSK conditions. These may include chronic, complex and disabling conditions,

Assess, develop and implement highly specialised physiotherapy intervention. To make appropriate clinical decisions following assessments, including differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment.

Develop specialist care plans based on best practice and expert knowledge.

Formulate individualised management and/or treatment plans, using clinical reasoning skills. Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment plans as required

Manage and prioritise a complex and/or specialist caseload(s) independently.

o Work in partnership with others e.g. parents, carers, education, and other health and or social care colleagues to ensure a positive outcome for children and young people

o Good communication skills of encouragement, persuasion, motivation, explanation and empathy

o Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date professional documentation in line with legal, professional and organisational requirements

o Provide timely Physio advice, reports and programmes to be integrated within the child or young persons daily curriculum

o Provide information, relevant training and support to parents, carers, education, and other professionals as required

o To be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries, seeking advice as appropriate. This may necessitate seeking specialist advice from outside the organisation

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised physiotherapy degree
  • Registered as a Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professional Council.

Desirable

  • A post graduate qualification relating to specialist area
  • Member of relevant special interest group

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Post registration experience including specific work within this specialist area.
  • Knowledge of record keeping and safeguarding principles Knowledge of a range of assessment and therapy approaches
  • Experience in leadership/supervision activities.
  • Experience in participating in audits.
  • Experience of delivering training
  • Knowledge and application of physiotherapy assessments and specialist interventions relevant to client group.
  • Previous MSK experience

Desirable

  • Member of relevant special interest group
  • Previous MSK experience in a Paediatric setting

Essential

  • Car driver and access to a car
  • Full UK driving licence
