Job summary
The SACT Clinical Nurse Specialist will support and develop the growing service we provide to patients receiving SACT regimens for all cancers, at the Royal Free Hospital sites, which will include provision of nurse led chemotherapy clinics. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to develop their skills and scope of practice under guidance and supervision. The post will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of specialist clinical practice, education, leadership, management and research.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will:
Provide support & direction to nurses delivering chemotherapy across the Trust.
In collaboration with the wider senior SACT team within the Trust identify and interpret (at local level) the priorities for delivery of SACT,
Deliver nurse led SACT clinics for patients with cancer and prescribe within scope, and be responsible for excellent standards of nursing care to patients through the planning, co-ordinating, delivery and evaluation of nurse-led clinics and services.
Support the development and delivery of any new pre-SACT education to patients.
Liaise with all key members of the multidisciplinary team to advise and support colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care across professional boundaries.
Contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated groups of patients receiving SACT
Contribute to training and education within specialist area
Act as a visible role model and specialist practitioner.
Promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through reviewing the evidence base and embedding this in practice through engagement in research activities.
