Job summary

The Breast Care Specialist Nurse will play a pivotal role within the Breast Care team, they will provide information, advice and support for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer promoting seamless service within multi-professional framework.

With support and supervision of the CNS team the post holder will provide high quality care to individuals with breast cancer and their families/significant others.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely across the whole patient pathway implementing holistic care at all stages of the patient's pathway in both primary and metastatic settings. In collaboration with the CNS team the post holder will influence patient care through specialist skills, knowledge and experience.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • RGN 1st level with significant post registration experience
  • First level degree
  • Communication skills training

Desirable

  • Education relevant to post in breast care or oncology nursing
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Teaching and assessing qualification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of significant post registration experience working with oncology patients.
  • Evidence of multi-professional working.
  • Knowledge of cancer journey and the impact of a cancer diagnosis on patients and their families

Desirable

  • Understanding of Breast MDT working.
  • Knowledge cancer standards and their importance.
