Job summary
The post holder will support the Team Leader in the development and implementation of a multi-professional Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment provision providing a high quality service to meet the needs of service users, and their carers, in acute phases of mental illness. To ensure the continued efficient and effective running of the team, providing leadership and supervision within the multi-disciplinary staff group as appropriate.
The post holder will undertake assessments of people with mental health problems who are presenting in acute crisis and, where appropriate, provide intensive treatment/support as an alternative to inpatient admission.
The post holder will be responsible for helping to maintain team systems and processes for effective team working, including outcome measures and audit under the direction of the Team Leader.

Main duties of the job
- Act as a shift leader, coordinating care delivery within the ward or crisis service.
- Provide high-quality, person-centered care to service users with complex mental health needs.
- Undertake and oversee mental health assessments, care planning, and evaluations.
- Lead on clinical decision-making during shifts, especially in crisis or high-risk situations.
- Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior staff, students, and support workers.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure safe staffing during shifts.
- Promote staff wellbeing and maintain a supportive team environment.
- Contribute to training and development of staff.

- RMN or Dip / BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing
- NMC Professional Registration
- Evidence of further development/training
Desirable
- Experience of the role as practice supervisor for students
- Venepuncture training
Experience, eg work related experience to be taken into account

- Post registration experience in relevant clinical setting
- Experience in acute and community areas
- Evidence of practical application of the recovery model

- Experience of risk assessment in an acute / community setting.
- Knowledge and application of key policy, health legislation and guidelines in mental health nursing practice

- A high level of problem solving/clinical judgement skills and the ability to analyse professional and ethical issues
