Job summary

Salford Children's Speech & Language Therapy Service is looking to recruit a creative and flexible Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our Schools team. This post is suitable for a newly qualified SLT or a SLT with experience. You will be part of a friendly, experienced service who work closely with families and partner agencies to support children and young people's speech, language and communication needs.We have a well-established service providing a 'balanced system' across Salford delivering universal, targeted and specialist levels of support. This role will involve delivery of clinical interventions in school settings, and supporting and delivering our training offer to settings, parents/carers, and colleagues. The post holder will receive supervision, support and mentoring from a range of experienced SLTs across the service. Due to the nature of the post you will need to be able to travel to different sites as required by the service.

Main duties of the job

o To deliver universal, targeted and specialist clinical work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Schools Team.o To assess and treat own caseload of patients maintaining own records as an autonomous practitioner.o To deliver training and contribute to the development of the children's workforce.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (will also consider if expecting degree results imminently)

Professional Registration

Essential

  • Member of RCSLT
  • HCPC Registration - Licence to Practise (Will accept if awaiting degree results)

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience at an undergraduate/post graduate level
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of up-to-date assessment tools relevant to the client group.
  • Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group)
  • Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group).
  • Awareness of the principles clinical governance / audit
  • Awareness of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group).
  • An understanding of the issues affecting an inner-city community.
  • To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within their role.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative forms of Communication e.g. signing, symbols, communication aids.
