Are you an experienced and motivated nurse with a passion for endocrinology? Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Endocrine Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7) to join our established Diabetes and Endocrine multidisciplinary team.
Based primarily at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred endocrine care across the Trust, with a requirement to provide cross-site support at Winchester and Andover.
About the Role
As an Endocrine Nurse Specialist, you will work as an autonomous practitioner and recognised clinical expert, managing a defined caseload of patients with a wide range of endocrine conditions, including complex cases.
You will:
- Deliver specialist endocrine care across outpatient, inpatient and virtual settings
- Runnurse-led clinics and contribute to dynamic endocrine testing
- Provide expert advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluateindividualised care programmes
- Request and interpret diagnostic investigations within scope of practice
- Act as a key link betweenprimary, community, and secondary care services
This is a varied and rewarding role combining clinical expertise, service development, education, and leadership.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Autonomously manage and prioritise a specialist endocrine caseload
- Deliver nurse-led clinics, patient education, and telephone/virtual consultations
- Support diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of endocrine disorders
- Contribute to multidisciplinary working and decision-making
- Act as a clinical role model, supporting and mentoring junior staff and students
- Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiativess
- Provide specialist education and training across the Trust and wider system
- Support development of care pathways and improve patient outcomes

Training and Qualifications
Essential
- NMC Registration
- Evidence of working at or towards Level 7 study or experience
- Evidence of CPD
- Relevant clinical skills
- Teaching and assessing skills gained through formal study
Desirable
- Membership of a relevant endocrine/diabetes specialist interest group
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
- Postgraduate qualification in endocrinology/diabetes or related specialty
- Leadership/management qualification
- Teaching/assessing qualification or equivalent
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and professional development
- Significant post-registration clinical experience, including experience in endocrine/diabetes care
- Experience managing a defined caseload and delivering specialist nurse-led care
- Evidence of contribution to service improvement, audit or quality improvement initiatives
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working across organisational boundaries
- Knowledge of national and local drivers relevant to endocrinology/diabetes services

- oExperience supporting workforce planning or skill mix development
