An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the blood sciences team at Northumbria Healthcare as a Healthcare Science Associate.
Healthcare Science Associate works as part of the pathology team. They will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples contributing to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases, and the investigation of other pathological processes. This role contributes to the production of accurate and timely results, whilst supporting the ongoing development of pathology services.

Healthcare Science Associate works as part of the pathology team. They will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples contributing to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases, and the investigation of other pathological processes. This role contributes to the production of accurate and timely results, whilst supporting the ongoing development of pathology services.
Laboratory investigations will be carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with all work carried out to specified standards as laid down by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). This role could be across all sites within the Trust.

Work within a Pathology service providing diagnostic support to acute hospitals, community services, and primary care.
Perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.
Perform a range of routine technical procedures on biological samples under the guidance of a Biomedical Scientist/Team Leader/Manager, adhering to the SOPs.
Undertake a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated procedures requiring skill and manual dexterity.
Ensure urgent samples are prioritised.
Participate in laboratory rotation through appropriate areas of the department.
Supervise and support Healthcare Science Assistants.
Carry out basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
Perform general housekeeping duties including maintaining stock, reagent preparation, cleaning, and waste disposal.
Pathology services operate across multiple Trust sites and provide a 24/7 service
