Job summary
This posts offer a combination of service and personal development. They were created four years ago to provide a more experienced doctor on the Chelsea site overnight. We are now looking to expand this model to our Sutton Site. In total there are nine posts, with one doctor undertaking night shifts on each site as part of the hospital @ night team. Previous post holders have included doctors with a general medical, general surgical and anaesthetic background.
Main duties of the job
Post holders have undertaken fellowship in a wide variety of areas including surgical specialities, dermatology, gastroenterology, palliative medicine, medical or clinical oncology, digital health care to name a few.
The H@N team is made up of a senior nurse and an outreach nurse and the H@N doctor. At the Chelsea site there is an oncology SHO onsite until 10.30pm. The night shift starts at 8pm and finishes at 9am the next day. The H@N doctor cares for all ward inpatients within the hospital overnight and new admissions under oncology, haematology and surgical specialties. They are supported by an onsite registrar/SAS doctor in critical care, and registrars in oncology, urology/gynaecology surgery, head & neck surgery and general surgery who are non-resident but able to attend the hospital when required.
These posts are anticipated to be available from the end of June 2026 onwards.
