The department offers great opportunity in learning from the most basics procedures such as biopsies and drainages, to the most complex treatment of Angioplasty's, Thrombolysis, Aortic stenting, ureteric stenting and embolization treatment, Liver Ablation. It also provides the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the recovery of post-anesthetic patients and Level 2 care, offering an umbrella of learning and development of opportunities.
The department participates in quality improvement projects allowing staff to develop their ideas and empowering everyone to work together to become experts on the field.
The band 5 staff nurse will play an integral part in supporting the Junior Sisters and the team according to our trust values, and ensuring the delivery of high quality patient care within this innovative environment. What can we do for you?
We provide a comprehensive orientation program along with in house training, foundation courses, coaching and leadership training. You will build skills and knowledge on surgical scrubbing, circulating and recovery skills.
Main duties of the job
- Independently manage a group of patients and provide leadership within the speciality collaborating with the MDT to deliver individualised and personalised direct patient care.
- Demonstrate adequate practice and specialist knowledge in the assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care. This will include history taking, physical examination, evaluate patients and relative's needs, ensure patient is adequately prepared and safe for the agreed interventional procedure.
- Adequate assessment and specialist care of the conscious - sedated patient. Responsible and correct administration within line with local and trust policies of conscious sedation.
- Responsible for the correct administration, disposal and storage of medicines and blood products. Thorough knowledge of frequently used drugs within the department, showing understanding of potential complications and side effects, and their management.
- Demonstrate safe practice and knowledge in the recovery and care of post anaesthetic patients including level 2 patients. Ensure safe and effective care for complex patients.
