Job summary
The post holder will work to provide evidenced based advice and leadership to practitioners across all inpatient services and community services within a specified care group and across the Trust in respect of Infection Prevention and control as directed by the Infection Prevention and Control Lead
Support clinical excellence as a positive role model working alongside clinicians in all Trust settings to provide practical support on Infection prevention and Control.
Support the delivery of high quality care across all services within their role boundaries and will provide visible support to both clinical and non- clinical colleagues.
Acknowledge the unpredictable nature of the role/ work load and have the ability to re prioritise workload quickly and confidently when there are changes in circumstances. Maintaining own electronic diary.
Duties will include clinical and administrative.
The post holder will work within their allocated work stream as they strive to implement policies and best practice in service delivery areas.
The post holder will provide line management support, supervision and mentoring to their Band 6 and Band 4 IPC team members
Main duties of the job
o To provide expert ipc advice and support to the care group and wider Trust staff as required.
o provide specialist advice on cases of Health care associated infection (HCAI) within the care group and across the Trust as directed in accordance with Trust policy.
o Provide specialist advice and management in relation to outbreaks of infection liaising with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) as required
o Contribute to the IPC annual plan and audit programme.
o Participate in the review of Trust IPC policies.
o Review of and delivery of IPC section of the Trust induction programme and bespoke training sessions
o Support the annual audit programme.
o Work with relevant health care partners across the local systems .
o To work in partnership with internal and external non-clinical teams including projects.
o Support Occupational Health services in relation to investigations of sharps injuries or bodily fluid exposure.
o To undertake investigation into patient safety incidents , and post infection reviews into cases of HCAI
o represent the IPC team at relevant meetings.
o Lead on the development of the Trust wide Link Worker programme and conference.
o Any other duties as delegated by the IPC Lead or Director, commensurate with the responsibilities of this post.
