Job summary
The postholder will provide expert leadership in clinical education across the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring nursing and clinical staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver safe, effective and high-quality orthopaedic care.
The role will lead the development, delivery and evaluation of Trust-wide clinical education programmes and competency frameworks, acting as a specialist professional resource and visible clinical role model across all clinical areas.
A core element of this role is to act as the Nursing Lead and Module Leader for the Specialist Education Module, developed and delivered in partnership with an external university and clinical provider.
The postholder will lead the project from development through implementation and will work in partnership with the university and external providers to support the ongoing design, delivery and development of the module, ensuring alignment between academic provision and clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
Provide Trust wide leadership for clinical education, ensuring staff have the knowledge, skills and competence to deliver safe, effective and high quality care.
Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of clinical education programmes and competency frameworks in line with national guidance and organisational priorities.
Act as Nursing Lead and Module Leader for the specialist education module, working in partnership with university and external providers to ensure alignment between academic delivery and clinical practice.
Provide expert professional advice to senior nurses, clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams on clinical education, competence development and practice learning environments.
Maintain clinical credibility through planned clinical practice and support staff development, assessment of competence and promotion of evidence based care.
Lead and support preceptorship, student learning and workforce development activity across the Trust, ensuring high quality learning environments and effective support for new and developing staff.
Line manage and develop a team of clinical educators, including responsibility for appraisal, performance management, wellbeing and professional development.
Analyse workforce, education and quality data to identify training needs, risks and improvement opportunities, translating these into prioritised education plans.

- Degree level education (or equivalent professional experience)

- Significant post-registration experience in a clinical setting relevant to orthopaedics
