We are looking for a pharmacist with strong clinical and leadership skills to manage our well-established service, ensuring that it develops to meet the changing needs of our staff and patients. You will have the opportunity to shape its future direction with support from experienced managers who firmly believe in its value.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at Northampton General Hospital, leading a team of pharmacists and technician to provide medicines advice to patients and healthcare professionals across Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals.

You will also co-ordinate training in medicines information retrieval, literature evaluation and enquiry answering for pharmacy staff from both hospitals.

Although the post does not have a regular ward clinical commitment, you will develop close relationships with the Pharmacy Clinical teams across UHN, to support their information needs.

You will keep patient contact by running our Patient Discharge Medicines Helpline.

You will have the opportunity to develop skills in writing medicines bulletins, guidelines and shared care to facilitate safe transfer of prescribing to primary care.

As a valued member of the Pharmacy team, you will be expected to contribute to the wider Medicines Optimisation agenda, Pharmacy service evaluation and development.

Throughout our department, we have a very strong team ethos and you will have good support from your peers, the senior pharmacists and technicians.

Enthusiasm, a strong team spirit and good communication will be required as well as a desire to have the patient's safety at the foremost of everything you do.

Previous experience in Medicines Information is desirable however you will be supported to develop this expertise if needed.
