Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an innovative new integrated community mental health service. You will play an integral role in further developing the service, teaching and training new team members and primary care staff and providing clinical and managerial leadership to the team. This post has become available due to the previous postholder leaving.

The service is continually developing and the configuration of staff and exact details of the post may change in order to facilitate this

Main duties of the job

You will have a key role in a liaison/consultation model to provide early, easy access advice to GPs and the Primary Care Networks to support care of patients in the locality. You will also provide clinical leadership to the team in clinical multi-disciplinary team meetings and referrals meetings as well as being available for case discussions, advice and supervision within and outside team meetings, assessments and more direct input in particular in risk and/or medication management and diagnostic assessments.

You will be expected to establish, develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues in the Primary Care Network as well as in secondary care mental health teams, IAPT, Local Authority and 3rd sector. You will also facilitate smooth transitions into and out of the service through relationships with other relevant services.

You will work in partnership with the Team Manager to provide leadership and development to the MINT Team. This will include developing strategy, quality improvement, audit, and written policies and guidelines for the future delivery of MINT Services

You will be expected to participate in training for key individuals in the Primary Care Network such as GPs as well as within the MINT team itself. This may include formal didactic teaching; individual 'bedside' style clinical teaching based around individual cases; developing strategies for teaching and training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • MRCPsych

Eligibility

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • GMC Specialist Register or within six months
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
