Surgery, Women and Children's NEONATAL UNIT - Staff Nurse (Permanent 36 hours)

We are a Level 2 Neonatal Unit, dedicated to delivering high-quality care to sick and preterm infants in partnership with their families. Our unit provides intensive care, high dependency, and special care, supported by a skilled team of Advanced Neonatal Practitioners, Clinical Educators, and a well-established Community Outreach Team that facilitates early discharge and care at home.
Whether you're experienced or just starting out in neonatal care, we'll support you every step of the way. You'll benefit from a comprehensive preceptorship and competency programme, along with access to specialty education and training to help you grow and thrive in your role.
Main duties of the job

To develop skills and knowledge in the care ofspecial carebabies and, with support and training, progress to caring for high dependency and intensive care babies through opportunities such as the Neonatal Foundation Course and Neonatal Intensive Care Course.

To manage and organise care for a group of babies and their families, prioritising according to need, and ensuring excellence in the assessment, planning,implementationand evaluation of care.

To communicate effectively with families and carers, meeting information needs and supporting parental involvement in decision-making.

To perform clinical skills relevant to neonatal care and support the training, supervision and assessment of staff developing these skills.

To promote and support the provision of individualised care, ensuringaccuratedocumentation ismaintainedfor each baby.

Tomaintaineffective communication within the multidisciplinary team and coordinate nursing care with awareness of staffing levels and skill mix.

To contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of new techniques and evidence-based neonatal practice, supporting audit, researchactivityand clinical governance.
