We are seeking to appointed a highly skilled autonomous Practitioner to join our team of Nurse/Emergency Practitioners to support the 3 Urgent Treatment Centres within the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will be proficient in all aspects of urgent care and deliver a high standard of service to adults and children presenting with minor illness and injuries.
This post is open to Registered Nurses and Allied Health Professionals with the appropriate level of training, qualifications and experience in Urgent Care services.

Main duties of the job
The main duties associated with this role are to see and treat patients attending the Urgent Treatment Centres with minor illness and injury, to do this independently and make sound clinical decisions in relation to their care.
it is expected at Band 7 level that you will also be able to demonstrate leadership within your role and take part in the Shift Lead role, this involves managing the shift, dealing with issues as they arise, monitoring and managing demand and liaising with other services as appropriate.
As part of the role we would expect you to play an active role in the supervision of junior members of staff and support the delivery training and development of the workforce.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to assess, interpret and compare a range of complex clinical information and take appropriate action to ensure that individual patients needs are met.
The post holder will be competent in history taking, interpretation of diagnostics such as radiology, have excellent communication skills, be able to manage their workload efficiently in order to provide a high standard of urgent care to patients and work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will be a confident decision maker recognising their scope of practice and work within protocols and policy.
The post holder will support the development of others within the team, act always as a role model and supervise practice when required.
The post holder will demonstrate leadership attributes and manage the shift as required.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Registered Nurse/AHP (appropriate to branch)
- Current NMC/HCPC registration
- Degree/Masters level study, or equivalent specialist study / experience e.g. o Nurse/AHP Practitioner Qualification or equivalent o Clinical Skills Course o Non-Medical Prescribing if relevant to role
Desirable
- Master's degree
- Management experience / qualification
- Has undertaken and completed Non-medical Prescribing course
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) /HCPC requirements for mentorship if relevant to role
- Evidence of on-going continuous professional development
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context
- Has understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding
- Recent experience of extended clinical practice in a senior role underpinned by training and assessment e.g. venepuncture, cannulation skills and intravenous drug administration
- Audit / research experience
