Job summary

Are you a Nursing Support Worker seeking an exciting new challenge or a new direction? The Llanelli District Nursing Team is looking for 2x full time Nursing Support Workers to join the team.

Llanelli's Community Nursing Teams/ Community leg clinic have a wide-ranging nursing skill mix and pride themselves on supporting professional development and improving high standards of community practice in line with current health policy.

These permanent positions are worked over a 7-day period from 9am - 5pm including weekends and bank holidays with possible change if service needs.

The post holders will need the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will ensure high standards of individualised care are delivered to patients and their families and carers within the home environment, by following care plans and treatment interventions as delegated by the registered nurse, as well as having the ability to work competently without direct supervision.

The role involves working with the district nursing team and supporting with the house bound patients to provide the care at home.

Supporting the leg clinic nurse to manage the wound care for the patients who attend the clinic.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a relevant heath or social care environment, providing direct patient care

Desirable

  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
  • Experience of working within the NHS
