Job summary

We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, and motivated individuals to join our team of Registered Paediatric Nurses, delivering dynamic, high-quality, family-centred care to babies, children, and young people.

This post is advertised on a rotational basis between the Paediatric Emergency Department and our paediatric inpatient ward and short stay assessment area.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work with the multi-disciplinary team to assess plan, develop and implement patient care.

The postholder has responsibility and accountability to provide safe and effective delivery of patient care within their professional knowledge and skills and designated area of responsibility/caseload.

The post holder will be able to assess and interpret the needs of patients/clients and provide care, advice or guidance.

The post holder will contribute to the provision and management of the service/specialty ensuring excellence in clinical care are delivered and a robust clinical governance framework is in place.

The post holder will contribute to the strategic and operational management of the specialty/service in collaboration with other members of the team to ensure that National, Regional, Trust and Divisional objectives are met.

The postholder will contribute to the Clinical Quality Improvement strategy within the Trust.

The postholder will provide clinical supervision, education and training to staff, students or patients and contribute to audit and research pathways relevant to role.

The postholder will contribute to the management of resources within their area.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse and hold active registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Diploma/Degree level qualification relevant to role
  • Professional qualification and knowledge of patient assessment, planning, developing and implementing programmes of care
  • Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc

Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification at Degree level relevant to role to demonstrate clinical skills

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in nursing care, knowledge and expertise acquired through training
  • Demonstrate experience of providing nursing care in the healthcare setting

Desirable

  • NHS experience or relevant health care organisation

Essential

  • Professional clinical knowledge skills and skills that demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, develop and implement programmes of care
  • Ability to apply professional judgement and problem solve
  • Able to support learners and clinical supervision of junior staff.
