Working as part of Velindre University NHS Trust's Corporate Strategy, Planning and Performance Team, the Planning and Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality planning and performance management across the organisation.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring robust planning processes and effective performance frameworks are in place. Working collaboratively across the Trust, you will support services to deliver against organisational priorities, improve outcomes and achieve the highest standards of care.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence decision-making at a senior level, using insight, analysis and strong partnership working to drive delivery of the Trust's objectives.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

As the Planning and Performance Manager you will be required to take a flexible and innovative approach combined with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to ensure that the planning, performance and strategic responsibilities for VUNHST are met.

You will be expected to:

  • Have a focus on corporate planning, ensuring alignment with national policy and local needs
  • Be responsible for the accurate reporting of performance to internal and external partners
  • Be a key liaison between the corporate Strategy, Planning and Performance Team and VUNHST divisional teams and external partners
  • Support the VUNHST divisions in driving transformation, as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service delivery
  • Work alongside the divisions to develop processes to allow for consistent and accurate information collection to inform future planning, service improvement and service re-design
  • Play an active role in regional and national service developments, working with Health Boards and wider partners

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to a Masters level or equivalent management experience
  • Knowledge of NHS planning processes
  • Knowledge of performance management processes

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in an operational or corporate management role working in a complex, multi sited, multi professional organisation.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects to time and within budget
  • Experience for performance management processes and meeting challenging targets

Skills

Essential

  • Highly competent in the use of ICT applications (especially Excel, word and PowerPoint) to support efficient work activity, including the analysis, interpretation and presentation of complex information
  • Highly developed analytical, interpretational and comparative skills, with the ability to assess, analyse and act upon highly complex and sensitive information, including making decisions and recommendations based on logical analysis, own knowledge, judgement and initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - able to communicate effectively with a wide range of clinician and managers (all levels) internal and external to the organisation
