Job summary

We invite you to join our committed podiatry team with the advantage of working within an Integrated Trust. We can offer a band 5 development role with support to work toward a band 6 role. You will be working in community clinics with the opportunity to develop your skills in complex care or hospital care.

You must have good general clinical skills and a willingness to progress your skills. The post holder is required to have clear communication and interpersonal skills as well as enthusiasm for contributing to this service.

Our podiatry service has placement rotations for staff within our specialist teams, such as Rheumatology, MSK and Diabetes / Wound clinics as well as regular sessions on the nail surgery rota. Our whole team meets for monthly staff meetings and clinical reasoning sessions. There will be a small home visiting caseload.

To assess, diagnose, plan and evaluate podiatric care to a variety of patient groups with specialised care needs.

To maintain high quality clinical skills and ensure own continuing professional development in line with national and local guidelines

To deliver evidence-based podiatry interventions that will contribute to the maintenance of patient mobility and independence

To adhere to Departmental, Trust and HPC policies, strategies and objectives

Education, Qualifications

Essential

  • B Sc (Hons) with Local Anaesthesia Certificate
  • Post graduate certificate or evidence of further training
  • Member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists

Special Circumstances

Essential

  • Candidates must hold a current driving licence and be able to drive as they will be working in more than one location

Experience

Essential

  • Post graduate experience and competence of assessing and treating a wide range of patients including specialist areas such as the foot at risk, biomechanical pathologies, wound care and nail surgery

Desirable

  • Experience of ordering x-rays, swabs and microbiology tests
  • Experience of delivery of education talks/presentations to groups
  • Experience of treating high risk wounds using advanced debridement skills

skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills to manage own caseload and the day to day running of a clinic
  • Excellent IT skills to aid computer entry requirements and e-mail communication
  • Flexible approach must be able to work as a team member but also as an autonomous practitioner
