Research Fellow
The post is based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. There is no on call commitment.
The clinical research fellow will provide clinical support for a portfolio of clinical research across a range of specialities.
The role and responsibilities will be adjusted according to prior experience. The fellow will provide medical support within the Clinical Research Department for clinical trials. They will work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team of research nurses and practitioners, Principle Investigators and clinical trial pharmacist. They will gain experience and training in all aspects of clinical research delivery, including: study set up, recruitment, consent, Pharmacovigilance, Investigations, research governance, follow-up of patients.

This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their skills within the department of cardiology. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues in the cardiology middle grade tier
- Providing middle grade support to the ward and supervision of foundation doctors
- Participate in ward rounds and review of sick and new patients
- Participate in board rounds and MDT meetings
- Support the consultants in investigating and management of new and review patients
- Take part in discharge planning of cardiology patients
- Undertake procedure lists under the supervision of consultant cardiologists
- Attend OPD clinics and review patients under supervision appropriate to competency
