Job summary
You will be joining a busy sleep physiology service based across 5 sites in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Margate. We are a friendly welcoming team who enjoy working together and supporting each other. We have links with a number of local universities, including Canterbury Christ Church University and Kent and Medway Medical School. The sleep physiology team are passionate about supporting staff development identified via regular supportive one to ones and the appraisal process.On applying for this post, you must meet the essential criteria for qualifications
Main duties of the job
We are committed to providing learning and development opportunities to all of our team members as we actively encourage and support all appropriate professional development. Therefore, to meet the demands of this job role, as a Band 6 Senior Clinical Physiologist in Sleep, you would be expected to complete the ARTP Pulse Oximetry and Polygraphy Practitioner Certificate and the ARTP Sleep Practitioner CPAP Certificate (Advanced) within the first 12 to 15 months of employment with theTrust, if you do not already hold these. Individualised development opportunities will then be discussed.Applications from individuals wishing to work full or part time will be considered. The named hospital base for these posts is negotiable depending on preference, however the successful candidates are expected to work across other Trust sites to support the sleep physiology service and its needs.

Essential
- Work within a sleep breathing disorders service or a relevant associated field
- Undertake respiratory polygraphy analysis and reporting
- Formal / informal teaching to a range of healthcare practitioners, patients, carers and their families
- Independently undertaking sleep outpatient clinics, specifically in the assessment, review and management of follow-up patients using APAP
- Work within a multidisciplinary Team
- Work within known policies and national/international guidelines (AASM, ARTP, BSS, BTS,ERS/ATS NICE etc) making appropriate judgements within the multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Participated in clinical audit, research and service development
- Experience of developing standards, policies and protocols
- Experience of clinical supervision and mentoring others

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSEs (the equivalent of grade C or above) in Maths, English and a Science, preferably Biology
- Degree level education relevant to post i.e. clinically appropriate BSc
- Continuing evidence of CPD
- Willingness to undertake further appropriate qualifications if do not have i.e. Level 6 Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science (Respiratory and Sleep), STP in Respiratory and Sleep and / or Post Graduate Diploma in Sleep Medicine
Desirable
- Registered respiratory / sleep physiologist / scientist with the RCCP or AHCS
- Relevant sleep physiology qualifications e.g. ARTP Overnight Oximetry and Polygraphy
- Practitioner Certificate, ARTP Progression / Practitioner CPAP
- Certificate Formal teaching and mentorship qualification
