Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
- Deliver specialist psychological assessments, including neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments
- Develop clear, evidence-based formulations and care plans for children and young people
- Provide psychological interventions to children, young people and families, both individually and in groups
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to support clinical decision-making
- Offer consultation and advice to families, education settings and partner agencies
- Provide supervision and support to junior colleagues, trainees and assistant psychologists
- Contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Job responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- You'll carry out highly specialist psychological assessments, drawing on a range of tools and approaches relevant to neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Using information from multiple sources, you'll develop thoughtful and comprehensive formulations that guide intervention planning. You'll deliver evidence-based therapies tailored to each child or young person, supporting them and their families to better understand and manage their needs.
- You'll also support effective risk assessment and management, ensuring care is safe, responsive and person-centred.
Multidisciplinary Working
- You'll be an integral part of the NDCAMHS team, contributing your psychological expertise to shared discussions and care planning.
- You'll work closely with colleagues across health, education and social care, helping to ensure joined-up, holistic support for children and young people.
Consultation and Training
- You'll provide specialist consultation to professionals, families and partner organisations, helping them better understand and respond to neurodevelopmental needs.
- You'll also have opportunities to deliver training and workshops, supporting knowledge-sharing and building confidence across the wider system.
Leadership and Supervision
- In this role, you'll support the development of others by providing clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainees and colleagues where appropriate.
- You'll bring leadership within your area of expertise and contribute to a positive, reflective team culture.
Service Development and Governance
- You'll play an active role in shaping and improving the service, contributing to audit, research and quality improvement work.
- Your input will help ensure the service continues to evolve in line with best practice, national guidance and the needs of local communities.

Essential
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent)HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist

Experience
