Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our multidisciplinary Community Eating Disorders Service, which will also involve some support within our Intensive Day Service, working with children and adolescents. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic experienced Dietitian to join this specialist area within our service. We are developing our dietetic resources across the pathway, the role will involve working closely with a small group of other Band 6/7 dietitians, alongside the wider MDT.

The successful candidate will bring adaptable and transferable dietetic skills to provide specialist assessment, treatment and nutritional support for children and young people with eating disorders. Strong communication and motivational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.

Main duties of the job

This role requires emotional intelligence, resilience and the ability to build positive, therapeutic relationships with children, young people and their families. The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and will be supported by an experienced Dietitian to ensure positive outcomes for the young people we support.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oAppropriate diploma/degree to Masters level in Nutrition and Dietetics with mental health, paediatrics or CAMHS experience or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • oHCPC registration as a Dietitian.
  • oEvidence of post qualification experience.

Desirable

  • oPostgraduate training relevant to eating disorders, paediatrics or mental health.
  • oEvidence of continued professional development specific to CAMHS or eating disorders.

Experience

Essential

  • oSignificant level of post qualified experience in general, acute plus demonstrable clinical experience within this specialist area in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
  • oStrong understanding of eating disorders and their nutritional management.
  • oSignificant experience of working with people with Eating Disorders
  • oAbility to provide specialist nutritional assessment, treatment and advice for children and young people.

Desirable

  • Experience working with eating disorders
  • Experience in paediatrics or mental health settings.

Skills

  • oExcellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly and sensitively.
  • oLeadership and supervision of junior colleagues experience
  • oStrong motivational and behaviour change skills.
