Job summary
The Home Treatment Service offers clinical in-reach care to service users staying in the crisis beds at Ibis House. This program provides intensive support as an alternative to inpatient mental health care.
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will be primarily based at Ibis House but will also travel to community sites such as the Acute Day Hospital and Newham University Hospital using the Home Treatment Team (HTT) pool car.
The HCA will deliver support, care, and treatment to service users under the guidance of Home Treatment Team clinicians and in collaboration with LookAhead staff.
It is essential for the HCA to communicate effectively with all relevant personnel, both within and outside the Trust.
Additionally, the HCA should focus on continuous personal development by participating in regular supervision, annual appraisals, and training when appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Undertake observations to the agreed level in accordance with the SUs care plan
Ensure awareness about patient's history, background, risk factors and specific needs.
Ensure orientation to the working environment, Ibis House for emergency procedures and potential risk in the environment.
Ensure that periods of support/observation are viewed as opportunities for therapeutic engagement and relationship building
Be familiar with the care plan, current risks and individual needs of SU.
Be aware of how to get support should it be needed and have regular breaks without leaving the patient unattended
Take an active role in engaging positively with the SUt, be approachable, listen to the patient and know when self -disclosure and the therapeutic use of silence are appropriate.
