Clinical Practice
The post holder will undertake a comprehensive range of specialist occupational health activities, working autonomously to assess, advise and manage employees in relation to their work and health. This includes:
- Assessing fitness for work at pre-employment and during employment, taking account of relevant legislation
- Undertaking complex case management including sickness absence, rehabilitation and return to work planning
- Providing specialist advice on workplace adjustments, disability and equality legislation
- Carrying out health surveillance programmes and interpreting findings
- Undertaking workplace risk assessments and advising on health hazards
- Managing blood and body fluid exposure incidents
- Maintaining accurate, confidential clinical records in line with professional and legal standards.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a senior clinician and role model the following:Clinical Leadership and Professional Practice- providing professional leadership and guidance to the Occupational Health team, support complex case decision-making, uphold clinical standards and contribute to governance, audit and continuous improvement of practice.Service Delivery and Improvement- contribute to the planning, delivery and development of Occupational Health services to ensure provision is safe, effective and responsive to organisational and client needs.Management and Supervision- support the management and supervision of Occupational Health staff, including mentoring, clinical supervision and contribution to appraisal and development processes.Communication and Stakeholder Engagement- develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, professional advice and communicating complex and sensitive information appropriately.Health Promotion and Wellbeing- contribute to the development and delivery of health promotion and wellbeing initiatives.Professional Development- maintain current NMC registration as a SCPHN Occupational Health Nurse.
