Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward 1 Withybush General Hospital.

The applicants should be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills who will be forward thinking and strive for the highest standards of patient centred care and experience.

The successful candidate will have experience working within an acute Surgical/Colorectal environment. The successful candidate will be a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team and will be a key link with service users and the wider clinical teams within Withybush General Hospital in leading and supporting service delivery.

Main duties of the job

Provide visible clinical leadership, ensuring safe, high-quality, person-centred care. Manage theward/team workforce, including recruitment, appraisal, performance, and staff wellbeing. Lead onquality, safety, and clinical governance, including audits, risk management, and continuous improvement. Overseeday-to-day operational management, including patient flow, capacity, and resource use. Supportstaff development, education, and a positive team culture. Ensure an excellentpatient experience, responding to feedback and driving improvements. Contribute toservice development and organisational priorities, deputising for senior colleagues as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development/ experience AND a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate level study when in post)
  • Bronze IQT
  • Teaching/ Coaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge of legislation pertinent to role

Desirable

  • Recognised management qualification
  • Recognised leadership qualification
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Masters degree in pertinent subject

Experience

Essential

  • Proven and relevant experience at Band 6
  • Appropriate experience within speciality and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant speciality
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018)
  • Proven post-registration experience and evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff
  • Able to demonstrate an awareness of professional issues and developments
