We are seeking a motivated and skilled Social Worker to join our well-established High Peak South Adult Social Work Team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive, long-standing team including a Team Manager, Senior Practitioner, Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners.

Role: Social Worker (Grade 9–11, 37 hours, permanent)
Team: High Peak South Adult Social Work Team
Location: Kents Bank Area Office, Buxton (hybrid working)
Client Group: Adults 18+ with long-term needs + learning disability transition cases from age 16

Focus Areas:

Care Act 2014 assessments

Mental Capacity Act (MCA) work

Safeguarding

Strengths-based support planning

Caseload: Mix of physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and transition-to-adulthood work

Support: Regular supervision and peer support

Requirement: Enhanced DBS check

About the Role

You will work within a generic adult social care team supporting:

Adults aged 18+ with long-term care and support needs
Young people (16+) transitioning into adulthood, particularly those with learning disabilities

The role involves:

Undertaking Care Act 2014 assessments and reviews

Applying the Mental Capacity Act (2005) in practice

Developing person-centred, strengths-based support plans

Working collaboratively with individuals, families, and partner agencies

Managing safeguarding enquiries

You will support individuals to achieve positive outcomes, maintain independence, and lead fulfilling lives within their communities or supported accommodation.

Key Requirements

Knowledge of Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005

Experience in adult social care and safeguarding (preferred)

Kents Bank Area Office, Buxton, covering the South High Peak area.

Additional Information

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to work with vulnerable adults. Criminal records will be considered on an individual basis.
