Job summary

Mac is a 24 hour assessment unit seeing patients from GP and other community settings. It is a fast paced environment with a high turnover of patients. We aim to reduce admissions by seeing and treating patients within MAC with a hope to discharge back to the community.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a registered nurse within a ward team within the Integrated Medicine and Patient Flow Division.
  • To prioritise and deliver nursing care and assessment as needed.
  • To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practise within the delivery of patient care.
  • To liaise with other departments and staff to ensure that patient care is delivered.
  • To ensure patients' safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
  • To support the nurse in charge of the ward and liaise with other departments and professionals to ensure that the needs of the unit are met.
  • Following appropriate development to assist in take charge duties of the unit and oversee patient admissions and transfers and the care delivered by other staff.
  • To undertake such duties as from time to time determined by the Unit Manager and/or Head Nurse.
