Job summary
Sterile Services Technicians ensures that all products received in Sterile Services, Medical Disinfection Unit and Sterile Services Endoscopy Unit are dismantled, cleaned, disinfected, re-assembled, inspected, packed and sterilized according to the departments' quality systems, work instruction documents, and to ensure that all products leaving SSD are fit for purpose.
The department is responsible for the full decontamination of medical devices and the disinfection of endoscopes and other non-invasive products. We have considerable experience in providing the widest range of sterile services to internal and external customers.
The post holder may be required to work in a flexible manner or on rota in order to achieve the overall objectives of the department and to perform other duties that commensurate with this grade.
Shift Pattern - Monday to Friday 18:00-02:00 & 21:00-05:00
Main duties of the job
To receive, inspect, dismantle, clean, disinfect, re-assemble, pack, sterilize and distribute medical devices, procedure packs and raw materials, checking quality at each stage.
To operate steam cleaners, endoscope washers & dryers, washer disinfectors, sterilizers, heat sealers and any other machinery within the department.
To ensure raw material stock is rotated and that 'out of date' stock is not used and assist in periodic stock checks.
To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with departmental procedures and Health & Safety legislation and ensuring that any faults or defects are reported immediately to a Supervisor or Manager.
To input production data and use the departmental computer systems, including the tray tracking system.
Ensure that all Customers are dealt with in a professional, helpful manner, must be polite, courteous and well presented at all times.
Maintain and develop the Sterile Service Department image and reputation.
To participate in training, development and appraisal activities.
