Job summary

The Academic Programme Manager will be a key senior member of the Infection Research Group (IRG) and will provide higher-level leadership and horizon scanning in supporting the further development of the IRG strategy over the next five years. The post holder will be based within the Dept. of Infection at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, part of the Humber Health Partnership, but will work collaboratively within local, regional and national health research economies, including with the universities of Hull and York, Hull York Medical School (HYMS), hospitals within the HYMS network, industry partners and others.

Main duties of the job

The Academic Programme Manager will work with all colleagues within the IRG, and the Dept. of Infection and across the healthcare system as required, to create a vibrant and sustainable IRG facilitating external income from commercial and other sources, including funders such as the NIHR and MRC. The Academic Programme Manager will oversee a portfolio of projects, coordinating and facilitating expansion of IRG activities and income, as well as overseeing key governance processes. It is anticipated, pending the outcomes of current funding applications, that in the first 12 months in post, the successful applicant would particularly focus on the following:o Lead on and ensure the IRG's adherence with the MHRA phase 1 trial accreditation scheme requirements (see: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mhra-phase-i-accreditation-scheme).o Develop and implement an IRG crowd funding and philanthropic funding strategy

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience
  • Further specialist project management knowledge in an appropriately related subject area (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, other health or experience to master's level equivalent science, research, management, data analysis, etc.)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • Management qualification and evidence of continued professional development
  • Further relevant specialist knowledge or experience to Master's level or the equivalent

  • Previous experience in a managerial role
