We are seeking two experienced and dynamic nurse leaders to join the Acute and Emergency Medicine Care Group, with one post aligned to Emergency Department services and one to Acute Medicine.

Based at Aintree University Hospital, the successful post holders will provide professional nursing leadership across their respective services, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality, and effective patient care. Working closely with the Heads of Operations, Clinical Directors, and multidisciplinary teams, they will lead the operational nursing function, drive quality improvement, support workforce development, and contribute to the effective management of services and resources across the division.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Director of Nursing will maintain a comprehensive understanding and analysis of national and local health, service, and nursing policy, guidance, and developments relating to Emergency Department and Acute Medicine services, translating these into strategic and operational action across the Trust in collaboration with divisional, care group, and departmental senior management teams.

The post holder will provide senior professional nursing leadership and specialist expertise across Emergency Department and Acute Medicine pathways, acting as a visible role model for nursing practice, standards, and professional leadership.

They will also lead the development and implementation of innovative, integrated approaches to nursing and service delivery, focused on patient-centred care, improving flow, and enhancing the overall patient journey and experience across acute care pathways.

Qualifications

Essential

  • First level registered nurse, with current NMC
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Evidence of education to master's level or equivalent experience
  • Significant evidence of post registration continued professional development
  • Post-graduate/registration Management or Training qualification /equivalent
  • Evidence of Leadership development

Experience

Essential

  • Significant management and leadership experience to including experience of working at a senior level
  • Demonstrable experience of leading clinical innovation or leading change within clinical practice
  • Demonstrable experience in, workforce planning, managing resources budgetary and financial management
  • Demonstrable experience in development of Nursing as a professional in their practice
