Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Mental Health Practitioner to work within our Community CAMHS Service. This is a great opportunity, ideal for a newly qualified Nurse or AHP.
The children & young people who access our services present with a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties ranging from mild to severe.
You must be a Registered Nurse, Dip SW or equivalent social work qualification (CSS, CQSW, degree in social work), Allied Health Professional registered with the HCPC and accredited by a HCPC recognised body e.g. UKCP/BACP.
The working hours of this substantive role will primarily be 9-5, Monday to Friday within the Community CAMHS South team, flexibility would be considered.
Main duties of the job
Providing mental health assessments and formulations
Building therapeutic relationships with children and young people and delivering evidence-based interventions (including group treatment)
Utilise Routine Outcome Measures so to ensure partnership working which is goal specific
Maintaining "lead professional" duties for an agreed caseload
Liaising with and offering consultation to other agencies
Participating in the enquiries (duty) rota
Contributing to all aspects of positive team functioning
Contributing to ongoing service innovations and development

Job responsibilities
Based in the Community CAMHS South team, you will be working alongside a wider MDT (Multi-disciplinary team) to serve and support children of South Nottinghamshire, working under the supervision of senior staff to:
Enhance and support universal service professionals to promote and support the emotional health and wellbeing of children, young people and families through contributing to professional consultation and training
To enhance access to the mental health services for children and young people for whom it is clinically indicated so to allow timely assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention within a multi-agency framework
Provide therapeutic mental health assessment and intervention within a variety of community settings so to better engage children and young people
Work within the Choice and Partnership Approach framework
Utilise Routine Outcome Measures so to ensure partnership working which is goal specific
Collaborate and liaise with agencies, creating positive and helpful relationships
Support the eradication of stigma associated with mental health services
Support partnership working through offering children, young people and families choice and flexibility in the service that they receive
Promote the safety and welfare of service-users and their families
Support the agreed discharge plan
Maintain a professional attitude so to be a representative of the wider CAMHS service
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant professional qualification at degree level or equivalent
- Registration with relevant professional body Teaching qualification
Desirable
- Qualification in therapeutic approaches
Previous Experience
Essential
- Skills and experience of working with children, young people and their families around a range of emotional health and behavioural needs.
Desirable
- Evidence of additional training in working with children, young people and their families within a multi-agency context
Knowledge/ Skills/ Aptitudes

- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge and experience of practice with current legislation and guidance governing the delivery of children's services.
- Knowledge and experience of evidenced based interventions with children and their families.
