Job summary

The post holder will be an expert clinical practitioner who will assist and support the Consultant Cardiologist team in relation to the Inherited Cardiac Conditions (ICC) service. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will play an integral role within the multidisciplinary team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, providing specialist care for individuals and families affected by inherited cardiac conditions.

The postholder will meticulously coordinate each patient's journey from referral through to diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, ensuring timely investigation, risk assessment, education and psychosocial support.

They will act as a primary point of contact for patients, relatives and health professionals, offering expert clinical advice and continuity of care. Working as part of a regional and national ICC network, the postholder will collaborate with colleagues to deliver safe, evidence-based care.

The role emphases active participation in service development, audit, data collection and research, supporting the Trust's growing academic and clinical partnerships. The postholder will practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code and HUTH policies, upholding the Trust's vision and values.They will be on a daily basis assisting consultant management of the service, providing both clinical and professional support.

The post holder will be responsible for a defined patient caseload in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team promoting attitudes and standards of professional practice which reflect the organisations commitment to providing timely and high quality services and care to the community it serves.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse at degree level or equivalent
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Mentor Preparation program and live on current register
  • Evidence of professional development

Desirable

  • ALS qualified or working towards
  • BSc in nursing related subject
  • Leadership or management qualification / training
  • Nurse prescribing qualification or working towards
  • Teaching/Assessing Course
  • Previous management experience
