Job summary

Tunbridge Wells Kidney Treatment Centre (TWKTC) is looking for an experienced Band 3 Health Care Assistant in a busy nurse led dialysis unit and outpatient renal clinics.

The role is to deliver safe, effective, compassionate care in a friendly, person-centred environment.

You will also be involved in direct patient care, health promotion and patient education programmes .

Main duties of the job

To assist under supervision in the delivery of fundamental nursing care and a range of clinical duties in liaison with the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the effective and efficient running of the ward/ service.

To contribute to the implementation and progression of a range of patient treatment and care packages as delegated by a registered healthcare professional; reporting back on progress

About us

TWKTC has both dialysis and renal outpatient clinics.

Nurse Led Dialysis has 84 patients.

The Renal Outpatient clinics attends to patients with different ranges of chronic kidney disease and transplant plus phlebotomy only clinic. In a busy clinic ,a staff can attend to up to 30 patients/day

They will be working collaboratively with different clinicians and nurses on a day to day basis hence good organisation skills, flexibility and communication skills are essential

-Able to communicate effectively with staff, colleagues and patients, using a sensitive /sympathetic approach, updating the team and using handover effectively

  • Able to organise day to day work load, knows remit and escalate accordingly

-Maintains accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronic and handwritten which

adhere to the Trusts policies

-Demonstrate competence in taking, recording and interpreting routine vital signs.

-Ability to undertake venepuncture/ phlebotomy competently.

-Proven ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative

TW HCA/ Dialysis Care Assistant Role Requirement

Essential

  • Evidence of general education e.g. Functional skills level 2 in numeracy and literacy or GCSE's maths and English grades A-C / grades 4 - 9 or equivalent.
  • Vocational Level 3 in Health care or equivalent qualification in the area of speciality and practice post in health care setting Completion of Care Certificate
  • Experienced Phlebotomy skills

Desirable

  • Dialysis experience
