Job summary

The Lead Intelligence Analyst will play a key role in supporting the Trust's Electronic Patient Record (EPR) implementation programme by providing high-quality analytical insight, reporting solutions and data expertise.

Working as part of the Trust's intelligence and analytics function, the postholder will lead analytical workstreams aligned to clinical and operational domains, developing a deep understanding of services, pathways and organisational data to design and deliver meaningful intelligence products.

Main duties of the job

The role will support the organisation through the transition to EPR by ensuring continuity of reporting and performance intelligence, supporting testing and validation activities, and helping design the future analytical environment that will operate on the new digital platform.

The postholder will contribute to the wider development of the Trust's analytical capability, delivering robust analysis, dashboards and reporting solutions that support operational decision-making, service improvement and strategic planning.

Analytical products will primarily be developed using Power BI and modern data modelling approaches, working within the Trust's evolving data architecture including platforms such as the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP).

Working within a highly complex healthcare data environment, the analyst will be expected to rapidly develop an understanding of multiple clinical and operational systems and apply this knowledge to deliver reliable, meaningful and actionable intelligence.

The role aligns with the NHS National Competency Framework for Data Professionals and represents a Senior Practitioner level analyst role within the organisation.

Although hybrid working is in place and available across the team, as this role will be key to the EPR programme there will be a requirement to be on site at Sherwood Forest Hospitals a minimum of 3 days per week.

Analytical LeadershipLead analytical workstreams across clinical and operational areas, developing insight into services, pathways and performance. Work with stakeholders to define key questions and translate these into dashboards, reports and investigations. Provide expert advice to support decision-making, improvement and strategy.

Reporting & AnalysisDesign and deliver high-quality dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI). Analyse complex data from multiple sources to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and support consistent performance metrics.

Insight & ImprovementUndertake detailed analysis of performance, demand, capacity and patient flow. Translate findings into clear insights and recommendations.

Governance & QualityEnsure compliance with information governance and promote high data quality. Address data issues with system owners.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Relevant qualifications in analytics, data science or related field
  • Project management (PRINCE2/Agile) oLean/Six Sigma

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience working in an analytical role
  • Experience of gathering business requirements and process mapping
  • Data analysis, interpreting and presenting complex information
  • Experience supporting testing or implementation of systems

  • Experience in EPR or healthcare IT
  • Vendor/supplier coordination
  • Knowledge of NHS workflows
