Job summary
The post-holder will be expected to help develop the joint fetal services within the Directorate. The Post-holder will contribute to assessment and setting management plans for fetal patients diagnosed with heart disease as well as supporting the Fetal and Paediatric Cardiac Network.
The post-holder will be a member of the Fetal and Paediatric Cardiology Service of the Children's Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care directorate, part of the Evelina London Women and Children's Clinical Group. The post-holder will be expected to work closely with existing consultants and the multidisciplinary team to provide a clinical service of excellence for the foetuses and children with congenital or acquired heart disease.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the care of foetuses and children requiring cardiac care, including when in paediatric intensive care and high dependency units.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to paediatric cardiology clinics (both at centre and in network) and take part in the general paediatric cardiology on call rota.
The post holder will be expected to actively participate in the research, education, and administrative responsibilities of the fetal and paediatric department, as well as generally support the Trust and its Directorate of Children's services.

About us
The Paediatric Cardiology Service sits both at the Evelina London Children's Hospital and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. The Main duties of this post will be carried out at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals but there will be cross-site work at the Evelina London Hospital. It is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at both sites and in any additional or different location in the Network owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service. Essential
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise
- Has, or is eligible for GMC Specialist Registration in Paediatrics or Paediatric Cardiology
- MRCP or MRCPCH equivalent
Desirable
- Higher Degree - either completed or currently enrolled in a higher degree program
Clinical Experience
Essential
- At least 4 years' experience working in a paediatric cardiac surgical centre at registrar level or higher.
- Demonstration of sub-specialty training in fetal cardiology
- Demonstration of sub-specialty training in congenital cardiac imaging, especially on echocardiography
- Ability to undertake independent outpatient clinics.
Desirable
- Peer review publications related to paediatric cardiology in particular in the field of fetal cardiology
- Experience in providing an outreach fetal cardiac service.
- Experience of advanced fetal echocardiography assessment
- Experience of working with industry partners to deliver novel technological advancements
