Job summary
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and inspiring HCPC Registered Principle Clinical Psychologist to welcome into our Mental Health Services in Bedfordshire & Luton. The post holder will support the work of the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. The Mental Health Care of Older Peoples' Services includes CMHT, Inpatient, Memory Assessment Service and a Dementia Intensive Support Service. The post is suitable for an experienced Psychologist who champions older adults and older adults' psychology. You must have an excellent understanding of working systemically across and within organisational boundaries. You must be keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse County, have experience of working with adults with complex mental health needs and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We develop and deliver our services through co-production with staff and people with lived experience. We would expect you to be fully committed to partnership working and co-production.
There are opportunities for excellent CPD that supports the Trust Strategy. Much of the work is in person and you will be expected to travel across the County and on occasion to London.
Main duties of the job
Provision of professional, operational, and clinical leadership for psychological professionals within the service, with governance responsibility for agreeing case and workload levels, and systems of monitoring quality of practice.
Contribute to effective, robust and culturally competent psychological provision, monitoring and implementation of professional standards in the practice of trauma informed, applied psychology and psychological therapies and interventions.
Highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and therapies, specialist risk assessments and advice on risk management, and the provision of psychological advice and consultation to others involved in service user care.
Utilise research skills for audit, policy, research and quality improvement, and contribute strongly to strategic service development in Bedfordshire and Luton as a senior psychologist.

Education/Qualification/Training
Essential
- Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology & HCPC Registration
- Relevant specialist post qualification training/ supervision in Neuropsychology and at least two additional psychological therapeutic modalities
- Completed training course in clinical supervision.
Desirable
- Management and/or Leadership training.
- Quality Improvement Training.
- Reflective Practice and/or working with group dynamics training.

- Driving license, access to a vehicle and insurance for business travel.
Experience
Essential
- Experience in older adult and dementia services
- Neuropsychological and therapeutic assessments, interventions, supervision of others
- Experience of working as a qualified Clinical psychologist at a highly specialist level in the NHS or similar public health provider.
- Providing teaching and training.
- The use of QI or other improvement methodology in clinical settings.
- Staff consultation, supervision, management, development and leadership, especially in supervising staff from different backgrounds and trainings.
- Co-production with service users and carers in treatment and service development
- Work with a range of stake holders
Desirable
- The application of psychologically informed interventions in different cultural contexts including working with interpreters.
- Leading a minimum of one Investigation Officer process
- Experience of prevention work or neighbourhood working.

- Older Adult Psychology Theory, models and practice
- The application of standardised assessments and outcome measures.
- Understanding of the presentation of highly complex mental health problems and range of disorders in Older Adults
- Legislation in relation to the client group including CPA, MHA, MCA, DOLS
- Specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation of outcomes
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively
- Facilitating groups including reflective practice groups
- Consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
