Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic/ Spinal Directorate within the Surgery Clinical Board.
The successful candidate must have significant experience of operational management to support the Management team with all operational aspects of the business agenda, including finance management, activity monitoring and performance management, as well as strategic planning of all aspects of the service. The postholder will provide leadership to the teams and promote highly professional standards of care whilst upholding and embedding quality and safety of services.
The successful candidate must possess excellent organisational, problem solving and communication skills. The postholder must be capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and can confidently engage with colleagues at all levels of the organisation. The post holder will be required to work autonomously to drive forward their own programme of work and will need to use innovation to overcome challenges.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work, learn and actively contribute in a supportive team environment.
This is an ideal management position that requires the post holder to carry out a varied operational and business management role, which will require significant prioritisation of tasks to ensure targets and deadlines are met within required timescales.
Main duties of the job

Responsible for the day to day management of the administration teams and development of effective team working ensuring adherence to UHB workforce policies and procedures.

To demonstrate sensitivity, leadership, influencing abilities and change management skills in all areas of personnel management.

Responsible for the effective day to day operational management of the service (performance management).

To support the General Manager in the delivery of RTT targets within the Directorate including the development and delivery of capacity schedules. Ensure that systems and processes are in place to prevent breaches of guaranteed waiting times and that the UHB waiting list policies are implemented and monitored effectively. Understand variances against the planned activity of the service, e.g. re-classifications, cancellations, DNA's and assist in the development of plans to make improvements.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
