A rare opportunity has arisen due to promotion in the team, to work in a centre of excellence in ENT with a large team of specialist SLTs and Laryngologists.

We are offering a rare and exciting opportunity for a Band 6 to join the SLT team working in ENT SLT Services at University College London Hospital (UCLH). This is a 1.0 WTE full time post.

We are looking for an SLT who may have skills and experience in Voice and Upper Airway. We will offer excellent opportunities for support and supervision.

You will provide out-patient SLT expertise and be part of an innovative and expert multi-professional team, including 10 SLT's, and 4 Laryngologists delivering care at the forefront of innovative practice.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be an autonomous practitioner providing a specialist Voice and Upper Airway SLT service to adults with complex ENT diagnoses.
  • You will deliver SLT care adult patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, psychological, and emotional needs.
  • You will be an excellent team player with strong communication and negotiation skills, who thrives on working as part of a large team alongside experts in this field.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in speech and language therapy or equivalent
  • HCPC license practice in the area of speech and language therapy
  • Evidence of working with the NHS
  • Basic counselling skills
  • Experience in clinical supervision of SLT students

Desirable

  • Successful completion of specialist postgraduate training relevant to voice disorders at MSc level or equivalent
  • Member of relevant CENs

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of two years' experience working in the area of Voice with adult patients
  • Carrying out evidence based research projects
  • Proven experience of utilising a range of assessment tools and procedures to evaluate voice and swallowing disorders in adult patients at a specialist level
  • Supervising junior staff
  • Proven experience at a specialist level of therapeutic interventions relevant to adults with voice and swallowing disorders, demonstrating the evidence base for these approaches

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in the area of dysphagia with adult patients
  • Previous experience of working in the area of voice with children
  • Delivering and evaluating training to a range of audiences
