Job summary

A Band 6 Radiographer is regarded as a senior clinical member of staff and, assuch, will fulfil the requirements of their role within the Imaging team. They are able to demonstrate some specialised knowledge and expertise in the modalities mentioned above, using the principles of CPD in preparation to undertake extended roles and responsibilities, and progress to a Band 7 grade Radiographer; the most senior clinical role in the Radiology Department at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities of the post holder require service delivery in a wide range of clinical environments to patients with a diverse array of presentations.

Our service is delivered on a shift basis working 7:45am-8pm 7 days a week and includes working in areas such as CT, x-ray, and MRI in static and mobile scanners. This post would be well suited for a radiographer wishing to develop and expand on their x-ray, CT and MRI experience.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • DCR (R) or BSc Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC registration

Desirable

  • IV Cannulation Certificate

Experience

Essential

  • NHS Experience
  • Experience in a diverse range of radiographic techniques
  • Experience dealing with a diverse range of patient presentations

Desirable

  • Experience in specialized imaging techniques such as CT and MRI.
  • Experience using PACS and RIS and an understanding of its significance for good service management and patient care
  • Experience of performing Quality Assurance tests and management of a robust QA program

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work independently and also within a team
  • Ability to prioritize and organize demands and multitask.
  • Willing to take direction and learn from more experienced colleagues
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of radiation protection methods and legislation for patients and staff
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of cross sectional anatomy
  • IV Cannulation experience
